Mamie Van Doren
Actress Mamie Van Doren is best remembered for her role and work in the 1957 movie Untamed Youth. Though early on she starred in small parts in movies, she pushed it aside for a while to perform on the stage of New York City’s nightclubs. Thanks to the songwriter Jimmy McHugh, whose attention was caught by her, believed in her and thought she’s too good just to be part of his music’s chorus line.
In turn, Mamie pursued acting, although not through a formal degree, but definitely a drama course with Ben Bard and Bliss-Hayden. Since then, she made her mark in the industry so much that she was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame and given a star at 6153 Hollywood Boulevard. Her other films include Teacher’s Pet, Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women, and The Navy vs. the Night Monsters.
