Ed Asner

Actor Ed Asner is known for his credit role as Lou Grant back in the ’70s through the ’80s. On both shows, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Lou Grant, he played the same character and was noted to be one of the few actors who can portray the same roles in both drama and comedy. In fact, his portrayal made him the most honored male performer in the Primetime Emmy Awards history.

The talented actor won awards for his supporting roles seven times while he ended up winning five times as a lead actor. His other award-winning work includes his performances in Rich Man, Poor Man, and Roots. Both TV mini-series were considered as two of the most significant series in the ’70s. Though he’s already in his 90s, he still does acting appearances, such as when in 2020, he appeared in an episode of Modern Family.
