Some of Margaret Avery’s recent appearances came in hit shows like “The Librarians” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” She even has a recurring role in “Being Mary Jane,” a hit BET TV show. Margaret Avery had many jobs before she got her acting breakthrough in the 1985 film “The Color Purple.”

This award-winning actress was also a substitute teacher. Yes, Margaret Avery was a substitute teacher before she became a film icon as she has a degree in education, which she got back in 1965. Margaret Avery indeed cherishes her entire experience and isn’t willing to step away from acting any time soon. In turn, expect to see more of her in films and various TV shows.
