Margaret Avery had many jobs before she got her acting breakthrough in the 1985 film “The Color Purple.”

This award-winning actress was also a substitute teacher. Yes, Margaret Avery was a substitute teacher before she became a film icon as she has a degree in education, which she got back in 1965.
